All Friday we were driving to Virginia, and made a quick stop near NAVY base, to make a photo of the submarine, floating on the grass sea.
Also we saw a tiny-tiny police office in Ridgeway, South Carolina.

But after that the rain started. it was so thick we couldn’t see almost anything
The next day we went to the Mountain Lake Lodge, were part of the “Dirty Dancing” was filmed. I knew that the main building was the “Kellermann’s Hotel” in the movie, but couldn’t recognize it being near it. And only when we went near bank of the lake ex-shore, I saw the “Kellermann’s”. Lake has almost disappeared and no one knows the reason for it. Suddenly it started to loose the water in the 2000s, scientists tried to add some colored stuff to the water and found some insignificant traces in one of the springs, but still no understanding why it happened.

After that was the weir. This is specially constructed dam to bring oxygen to the water. When we came there, the water level was below the barriers, so nothing special happened here, it was quite boring. But soon we noticed that water level started slowly increase and here it is – the water superfused over the barriers. It was so nice in the park near the little waterfalls made by increased water level, so we decided to take a late lunch here (it was way past lunchtime already).
While we were busy with emptying our plates, the geese came by. They looked at us very suspicious but decided to came closer. And there were three cute little gooslings, with barely appeared feathers.
It was early evening when we came to the Greenback Castle. Floyd “Junior” Greenback is creator of these structure. In 1992, after sudden death of his brother he started to build the castle. He didn’t have any special education or skills, just a farmer. People donated to him leftovers of bricks, concrete and so on. He didn’t have an answer for the question “Why do you do that?”, until 10 years later he understand that all that he builds because God asked him about it. The castle is pretty famous, he showed us a lot of official letters that he’d got. There were articles in the newspapers about castle. The building still not completed, Junior continues the work on it. The castle has 100+ walls, 30+ themed rooms, included throne room and devil’s room. Junior believes that there is Devil in that room and sees his faces on the walls. Junior tried to paint them over, to scratch the faces, but they reappeared again.

Can you imagine that all of this is work of one person?
I was so impressed with all that beauty of the red bricks walls and all efforts spent to build it. I couldn’t realize that it is possible to do alone. Junior is very welcoming, he likes tourists and he showed us all the hidden places in the castles, paying our attention to the different spots. So if you would like to visit the castle – do it without any doubts!
