Part 31 here
We don’t have a detailed route, usually we have the next couple days destinations in mind. So when we sat in our hotel room after visiting the Science Museum in Oklahoma, a bright idea came into our minds. What if we go to another Portland, in Texas this time? And on the way to Portland we will drive by Hillsboro, isn’t it fun? And near Portland is USS Lexington, a World War II aircraft carrier with an Aquarium near it. Also we will see the Mexican Gulf. All right then, it will be our destination!
We drove through all of Texas from the North to the South, it took about 9 hours of driving on Saturday.

Our destination!
On Sunday, before the sunrise, dad went to the gulf, to make photos of the rising sun. He captured a hapless fisherman’s truck that was stuck in the water. The gulf looked very shallow – people went quite far from the shore and were covered only up to their waistline. So we didn’t go swimming there. No big waves, no big fun. And what I didn’t like – it is very humid there. I could be wrong, but I had a feeling that humidity here was even higher than in Florida. Despite the conditioner that usually makes air drier, the bedding was damp.

After breakfast we went to the aircraft carrier first. The medical department there impressed me the most. I even ran away from the dentist cabinet as soon as I’ve heard the drill working and the loud moaning of the sailor-sufferer.

Next was the Aquarium. We watched fish, tried to touch some of them, spent some time looking at the sharks and dolphins. It was fun!

In the evening we sat in our room and watched ‘RED’. Elder kids didn’t see it before and were excited. Just before that me and Andrey went to the gulf, to water our legs.
