They participate in competitions against teams from other high schools. In the beginning of the school year, the Tidettes decided to experiment: they opened a Junior Tidettes team, so students that were interested could join. If the kids enjoyed it and were good at it, they were more likely to join the high school team. Ira decided to try it out, and signed up.<\/p>\n<p>Practices were twice a week after school, and would continue until November. The girls learned a dance that they would show at halftime of a football game between two high schools: Glencoe and Beaverton.
