The high school where most of the graduating middle-schoolers go has its own dance team – The Glencoe Tidettes. They participate in competitions against teams from other high schools. In the beginning of the school year, the Tidettes decided to experiment: they opened a Junior Tidettes team, so students that were interested could join. If the kids enjoyed it and were good at it, they were more likely to join the high school team. Ira decided to try it out, and signed up.
Practices were twice a week after school, and would continue until November. The girls learned a dance that they would show at halftime of a football game between two high schools: Glencoe and Beaverton. At the time of the performance, the score was 34 — 0, in favor of Glencoe.
Sadly, upon uploading the video to YouTube, the original song was deleted because of copyright. So I changed it to a different piece (The original was ‘I Can’t Feel My Face’).
All in all, the experiment was successful, and practices would start up again in the spring, as the gym was taken in the winter by basketball. But next year promises lessons full- year! 🙂
