Part 13 here
There is a wonderful Museum of Glass in Corning, New York. It is interesting not only of the all information you can learn there – there are lectures and tours there, so it is easy to spend the whole day inside – but because you can try to do something too!
We chose glass blowing. Kids wanted to be together and some of the activities have an age restriction, so glass blowing was good for us. That’s why we bought the tickets and went to the workshop. Kids choose a final result, three colors that will be used in their work and got protective glasses.
Me and Andrey sat on the chairs and watched how workers get a piece of liquid glass on the thin metal tube, add colors there, rotate a little bit. Then kids started to do a very hard job – to blow into the tube. It is very interesting to see, how the glass ball appears on the other end of the tube!

When the ball was ready, the workers used special scissors to cut it out. After that the glass stand was added and voila! The glass figure is ready! But while it is still hot we can’t take it with us. After cooling down the colors will be more bright. We will not be here tomorrow, when the figures are ready for pick up, so they will be sent to us by mail.

Today three young glassblowers were born in our family!
