Part 30 here
All Thursday we were driving to Oklahoma City where the Oklahoma Science Museum is located. While driving, we noticed a “first stage” of the unknown rocket near the road and visited an oldest swinging bridge in Kansas – it was build more than 100 years ago.

“First stage”

Friday morning we headed to the Museum. Kids immediately went to Curiocity to study different funny things. We played music on a different shaped wrenches and table saw disks. Or the old washing boards, pans and differently cut plastic pipes (we used special rubber spatulas). Then we went to the pin art wall – they repeated any object that was pressed there. We had a blast!

Next kids went to the playhouse while me and Andrey went to see what else can be found here. We saw water drops that jump up and down, saw train models.

Then Andrey heard that explosion show will start in several minutes, so we hurried up to pick up our kids.
The speaker – a mad scientist, told us about explosive powder and asked for a kid-volunteer to come out to the stage.
Then he took some flammable liquid, poured it to the big bottle and ask some kids to dance and shake it (he need a flammable gas extracted from the liquid). Next he hung the bottle, used a lighter and booooom!

Flammable liquid

It is about to explode

Boom!
After that he invited an adult volunteer, and, after giving him a handful of soap bubbles that had a mixture of oxygen and hydrogen inside them, ignited it. The loud sharp sound was a result and all bubbles disappeared.

For the last trick he used the liquid nitrogen. He poured it into a plastic bottle, closed it tightly and placed inside a special container. Then he advised us to cover our ears because that explosion will be the loudest in the show. At the same exact moment we heard a loud noise and the evaporating nitrogen appeared in the air. The scientist begged us to not try to repeat that at home.

Hmmm, what will happened if I close the lid tight?

The explosion!
Kids were excited and, after the show was over, went to explore the remaining part of the museum. After that they went to play on the different playground and we, the parents, decided to see the temporary exhibit of Leonardo da Vinchi.

Mona Nastya
We spent a lot of time in the museum and decided to go back to the hotel.

Track hanging high in the air
Here I would like to tell the story about one word that Ira had made up in the beginning of our journey. We booked a room in the one particular hotel chain. They often have a human-height carton man in the foyer, dressed in the blue suit, with red beard and surrounded by blue smoke.
Once Ira looked at him very thoughtfully and than asked us – who is this palm-farter? We liked that word so much so we started to use it. In the mornings, after booking the next night hotel room, dad usually said – We will go to a palm-farter hotel today. Or kids asked – will we sleep in as palm-farter hotel today?
