Our Everyday Life

Memorial Day Camping 2016. Part 2

Part 1 here

During the drive back, we stopped near the massive lava field – maybe it was created by that lava that flowed out of the lava tube we just explored?

Looking uphill

On top of the lava hill

What a coincidence to catch pooping eagle on camera?

After lunch we continued driving near the electric line when we noticed a fire watching tower on one of the distant hills.

We visited one of those towers last summer and decided to take a look, but the road leading uphill was closed for vehicles, so we left the car and went for a hike. But oh my, how many ticks were there!!! We used special spray and tucked our pants into our socks, and constantly swept them away from the clothes. Ugh!

Fort Rock in the distance

Coming closer to the tower we realized how tall it is, so by the time we came to the stairs only two brave people still desired to go up – Dad and Kate 🙂 The rest was waiting downstairs and sweeping away the ticks.

Tower is higher than I would like to climb

On the way back we found one local creature than checked ourselves one more time for the crawling ticks and went to the car. Our test trip was considered as successful and we headed home.
